NGK gap question

I have a set of NGK BPR8ES and not sure if I should set the gap to what most Evo owner set it at .025. I believe it came pre-gap at .030. My mods are what's in my sig and I'm running on pump gas 91 - 93 Octane mostly. Can someone help me out on this? Thanks!

if your running diffeferent mods theres no set gap width start your gap small run it every time you move the gap take it up until the car start to misfire then take it back down to where the car ran smoothly through the run and take an extra .02 if it runs smoothly at .26 starts to misfire around .28 take it back down to .24 this should give you a fine tuned gap specifically for you car giving good spark peak and duration a mix between the two is important and you'll also get good exposure to the mixture important to much gap gives you good spark energy but no duration and can kill your coils to little gap and you don't get enough energy but longer duration which also sucks.

On the copper core NGK's(i.e. your BPR's) you need to measure all four with a feeler gauge and regap them because they do vary out of the box. Iridium plugs, on the other hand, come pregapped.

Factory service manual calls for 0.024-0.028. You will be fine with 0.026 with the limited mods you have.

With E85 you will have to pull that gap down on the stock ingnition quite a bit, just FYI.

My mods are in my signature & I have the Denso iridium IKH24 plugs. They come pre-gapped so should I or should I not gap them?
And if yes, wat should be the correct gap for my setup?

Thanx in advance guys.

Victor

Never assume that the pre-gapped plugs are gapped correctly. Check them. I have seen pre-gapped plugs that weren't even close to spec. Be carefull gapping iridium plugs. It's very easy to smash the electrode. If you have to open up the gap, use a pair of needle nose pliers.
