I am also curious what happened to the injector and why. We've got quite a few sets of PTE injectors out there running E85 and I have never seen an issue. I'll give me PTE rep a call and see if they can get a picture of your injectors or better description and add what I find out here if you don't mind.

Funny you mention that, as I am noticing the same thing. I do not run my EGR anymore, and have my catch can not being recirculated into the intake track what so ever, and I have noticed that the insides of my intake manifold is getting dirtier and dirtier. I made a lot of changes to my intake manifold, as well as the set-up to the car to try and avoid this, and it doesn't seem to be working.

On the tips of my FIC1050's, I get the same small amount of black sludge buildup, and go in there on occasion to clean them out. I usually use rubbing alcohol as it seems to clean them up pretty fast. I use a q-tip to do it, and check them out really well afterwords to make sure I didn't leave any q-tip pieces in the tips.

I am a touch in awe about where this black sludge is coming from. It is especially present right at the end of the intake manifold runners, right around where the injector ends are. It has to be from the E85 I would think.

Thats very interesting indeed. I had used PTE 1,000's on E85 for over a year and never had a problem with them. Thats very nice that they are going to warranty your set.

I called PTE first thing this morning. They told me this is an isolated incident that they have not seen before. He is going to check with the manufacture of the injector though and verify that it is just odd.

I have a question for the owner of the car. What kind of fuel system/fuel pump are you using on the car with the E85?
