Popping sound when turning left
I have a popping sound in the right front of the car when I'm turning left. I can feel it thumping in the pedals. I thought it was the axle/cv joint so I replaced it today. It is still doing the same thing with the new axle in it. I notice it more at very low speeds. Any ideas?
This may seem strange, but how many miles are on the front brake pads? The reason I ask, my car did the same thing, I came across a thread that talked about the pads may need changed. Now I've been around cars my whole life, never heard of such a thing. My car made a grinding/popping sound, low speed turning left. I checked and sure enough my passenger side front inside pad was digging into the rotor. That was at 31,000 miles on pads. Not sure if that's your problem, but easy to check.

Thanks. My brakes have about 15k on them. I checked the pads when I changed the axle today and they look like they have quite a bit of life left on them. I may change them just to see if it fixes the problem though.

No, it definetely is a popping sound that I can feel in the pedals. Whether I put the brake on or not, if I'm turning left it's always the same. I first noticed it a couple weeks ago. At the time it was hardly there, but over the past couple weeks it's gotten a lot worse. It used to be only there if I was going slow and turning hard. Now it's there regardless of how fast I'm going and how little I'm turning. It just does it more if I'm going slow and turning hard.

There's no real way to look at it without taking it all apart, I know you can take the cap off and pull away all the grease, You can see the bearings but you cant spin them to see if they are binding..

I was thinking it was in the hub assembly. I guess I don't know where the top hat is.
Its called the pillow mount...Sadly I replaced mine cuz they where cracking causing the car to creek going over bumps etc. I upgraded to Cusco Camber plates. Now everytime I turn hard just like you, they "pop" "Bind" Alot of other guys are having this same issue. No body can figure it out yet...But id love to know wtf is wrong with it.
