What would you do? Turbo Upgrade ~
Well I recently spun a rod bearing, So I decided to go with a 2.3L Stroker from Buschur Racing . For the past year I've been running drop in pistons/rods + a Buschur 35r, so I'm very use to the lag (had the turbo for about a year and a half). Now that the motor has blown I decided to do some sort of turbo upgrade / downgrade.
For a while I had my mind made up on a FP Red + Shearer Tubular manifold + EMP o2 Dump setup, but reading all of Turbotrix's 2.3L Threads makes me possibly want to go with a bigger turbo. They recently made 530 WHP on a 2.3L and 850. Pretty damn good power for pump gas.
Now this car is my daily driver, like I said I'm no noob to lag, and don't mind it all, but I'm starting to have second thoughts. I want to make good power, but I'm afraid I might not like the downgrade from a 35r to an FP Red.
Out of the posted turbos what would you do with a 2.3L?

I would do a high compression ratio on your 2.3(10.5:1) like Dave is doing on his current White project car, and run the HTA86 turbo. Since, you've already lived with the pull of a 35R(as well as the lag), you may be dissapointed with a stock frame turbo on your larger displacement motor. Whatever you decide....Good Luck!

How do you feel about the HTA86 and the PT6262?
You dont think the 850 will be a little too laggy for the streets? Especially considering I cant rev THAT high.
What I'm looking for is Decent spool (obviously with the 2.3L The spool will increase a few hundred RPMS) along with a nice street usable power band to about 8k (Since I cant rev much higher than that) The car is mainly my daily driver, so I like to have fun while daily driving
Thanks again~

Mellon upgraded from a 35 to the HTA86 on his 2-Liter. In your case, with the added displacement and the higher compression, it would be even more streetable, I'd think. I hope some people who are actually running that turbo, or have tuned it , can chime in for you.

Depends on your power goal. For a fun street car (coming from a former TTR 2.3/35r/ems owner...) I would reccomend just sending of the 35 for the HTA treatment. That will net you the 500+ pump whp and whatever on race.
Of course I just saw that you live in Fla. I'm surprised your not doing a 2.0/42r for the "street" lol.
