Head gasket

Has anyone taken off the cyl. head and put it back on with the same head gasket? Just curious if it works.

It just wouldn't be worth the risk when they are only around $50. Would it work? Yea, probably. Not as good/long as a new one though. If you re-use the head gasket, you will be back in there in no time.

i know we dont have to change the head gasketwith mild mods, but just a an extra insurance since im opening the head installing cams soon

why would you be taking the head off of your car anyways if the head gasket was alright to begin with unless you were installing headstuds. then you could do it the 1x1 way

1 by 1. Its a 50/50 chance. Use a stock headgasket. They hold up to 800 horse.

Yeah the removal of the head is the right thing to do for Head studs..You just need a new stocker gasket. Dont really need a thicker one unless you have a upgraded head with bigger valves..

Most people upgrade for safety when making over around 300-330 whp. They will take it, but running more boost will run the risk of them stretching.

You should never re-use gaskets. Sure i have before when it doesn't really matter, but we are talking about the most important gasket on the entire car. I would say if you un-torque even one head stud the gasket may be compromised. Clean the head and block up and torque them evenly as recommended so the new gasket will compress properly.
