10.5 hotside on 8 turbo vs 9 turbo

Hey, i'm thinking about upgrading to the 10.5 hotside. How would this setup compare to the evo 9 turbo as far as mid-range and top end?

The IX turbo has a bigger compressor side as well, allowing it to flow more. The 2005 VIII came with the 10.5 hotside.

it would be close but depending on your goals the 9 turbo def performs better due to the bigger compresser wheel

In this time and day, there is no reason to upgrade your hotside on an evo 8 turbo. Save up and purchase a 9 turbo. you can find them for $400 now-a-days.

I've had both my car came with a 10.5 hotside (2005 evo) and I've had a evo ix turbo on as well as a ported evo viii turbo..for the money spent just get a evo ix turbo. I'm throwing a fp green on my car now so if you'd like a ported viii turbo with a 10.5 hotside I'll have it available in a week or so

IMHO just get a 9 turbo and port the hotside while its off the car. The 10.5 on the 2005 and 2006 are idencital, I have swapped these back and forth on my car w/ no issues. IMHO just do the IX turbo and sell your stocker, it's the best bang/buck out there.

Yeah, i plan on getting the 9 down the road. I want to tune it for E-85 but i might as well get the 9 turbo on it first so i don't have to dyno tune it twice. With that said, anyone have a 9 they want to sell? LOL
