my intake cam snapped?!!?
As mentioned previously, I think it's a fatigue issue due to the design of the cam at that location. If so, RPM should have little to do with it. If it is fatigue, it is based on the number of cycles and amount of repetitive force, which basically equates to mileage and perhaps stiffness of the valvetrain being used. Obviously, there will be a number of factors, and every set wouldn't break at the same time as compared to another car, but if it is a design flaw and fatigue failures, eventually they will break.
A good test would be to get a set of unbroken but used cams magnafluxed or x-rayed and tested for cracks in the suspect area. I'm sure a couple of people have used these cams and changed them out because of this issue or just to upgrade to a new cam. If cracks were found on the unbroken cam(s), then fatigue and eventual failure would occur if the cam would have continued being used.

Okay guys my cams got here today! First thing I noticed differently, was that the packaging is completely different. There is no casting, or Kelford branding found on the new cam (besides saying 9-177c on the top like the older ones). They came with a cam card that also states in caps new design 272 for Evo IX. The packaging was excellent, they now come in two separate boxes, with the cams wrapped in bubble wrap, then put into one bigger box. I also noticed the grooves now have a slight radius (can't see with my phone pics, I'll get some better pics with my camera set to micro), unlike the older ones. Overall I'm really happy Kelford has stepped up to the plate, and fixed every aspect from making them thicker, to completely changing packaging etc. Their customer service is absolutely top notch, and they helped throughout the whole way, answering every single one of my e-mails. I also picked up a set of their brand new beehive valve springs while swapping my cam set for the new ones, since Kevin had the courtesy of giving me a heads up that they were being released soon. I still don't know if they're officially yet, since I can't find them anywhere on the site (give them a call directly if you want a set). Well enough talking, onto the pics.

yeah but how many have FP sold to the number of Kelfords sold? and truely Kelford's snapping have been a handfull...so not to many. So really doesnt mean much if you think about it. There really isnt enough data anywhere!!! just bloody assumptions and opinions.
^^^i have the new gsc s2's with gsc beehive springs and the rev limit set to 8000, i have gotten there a couple times. im making 400 whp and like 340 wtq, tuned by chad at cbrd w a bbk full. i have put like 6000 miles on them, its my daily driver.
