Tips for starting new motor??

2.3L, HTA 35R 1250CC injectors, 280/272 cams, built head, pulled the wires off the injectors and took the wires off the spark plugs and turned it over and bit and then took off oil feed to turbo and didn't see oil in there, Need to prime it of course. Should I hook and the stuff up and start it for a min, or keep cranking? also can you do a start up tune as the stock flash but with the injectors setup or better to do other stuff also? Thanks KEVIN

Kevin, you should consider running it for a few minutes on the stock injectors if you haven't scaled the map for the big ones. Getting the engine started as fast as possible should be the objective. I'm not saying that you should load it up, just run it for a few minutes and do what it takes to make sure it will start and pressurize with oil as fast as possible.

More help needed

Thanks guys very much, car started fine after a little bit more fuel was added, now the car starts and sits great with AF for a little then just goes off the gauge and is really lean at idle?? Should I let it run and warm up and just run or should I keep working on making the fuel work better for it to be good on the AF gauge??

How long before it goes lean?? What is the coolant temp?? Sounds like you might have some issues with your coolant temperature enrichment map.

May need to add less enrichment at lower coolant temps and then bump up the overall duty cycle in your main fuel map. This will allow it to run like it is now on cold start up, but as the coolant temp comes up and temp trim enrichment goes to 0, the main fuel map has enough fuel in it to run the car properly.

A good tuner friend of mine once told me....I car will always run rich, it will never run lean.

For idle conditions, target 13:1 AFR during cold start and once warm, target 14:1 AFR.

During startup on really cold days (under 30*) i see about 11:1 slowly settling to 14.5:1-15:1

^^Yea, I agree with that. I don't really drive/start my car when its under 30*. But between 30*-40*, my cold start is in the 12:1 range.

Gasoline doesn't atomize for sheit when its cold...so you're just dumping fuel in when its cold to get the engine running.

Well I tried adding tons of fuel down low, added fuel on the Maf traslator and still its the same, I can get it to sit at about 13.0-13.5 for the first while and then after about 30 seconds it just drops off the face of the earth. If does not sound any different still runs fine, nothing but the gauge pegged at lean, give it a little gas and it will show High 17's. Also is it bad on a new motor to start it stop it and add a flash etc?? I mean shouldnt it run and warm all up or what do I need to do thanks KEVIN
