Drive w/o Transfer Case (temporary)

Well,

As some might know... My transfer case died!

After spending money on my clutch i don't have the means of getting a replacement at the moment... New nor Used.. Just can't afford it.

I took the car to the shop where I had the clutch done. A Little shop here near my house that specialize in Transmissions. I figured they had done something w/ the Transfer Case the time they installed my clutch. But after sitting down w/ them and going over what they did, it ends up not being the case. They never touched the the inner portion of what went wrong. I think one of the pinions or something is just broken. The usual case w/ these things... they only looked at the gears.

All in all.. now I'm stuck w/ a drive less EVO. Can't say I can get it warrantied anymore, since, I have an aftermarket clutch in it now. And in order to get the car anywhere, I would need a flatbed.. expensive!

Is it possible, in any way, to remove the transfer case and drive the car w/o it? Not for a long time either, but just for the necessary time period while I save the money to buy a used one or have mine rebuilt by SHEP or something. It'll give me the ease of being able to get around in my own car... and save the money to eventually put it back to the way it should be.

Is there any damage that can occur in doing this?
Would it effect the ACD pump in anway? 3 lights on the dash...!?

let me know...

No way man. I would borrow someone's vehicle until you can afford to fix it.

The only way you could drive the car without a transfer case would be Flintstones style.

The car wouldn't go anywhere if you pulled the tcase I dont think. Its connected to your front axle and powers the driveshaft which powers the rear.

unpossible.

If it is indeed the spider gears inside the front diff then replacing those is neither very expensive or difficult. If it's your ring and pinion start saving.

well update:

We disconnected the drive shaft and left the T-Case intact. It free'd up the rear end the car was driveable. Perfect, because now we were able to maneuver into the shop and put up on the lift.

Used transfer case was found and purchased and install is being done. Should have my car tomorrow hopefully. Straight easy swap.

Might just keep the old one and probably slowly rebuild it. Open it up and learn the workings of this complex T-Case these EVO IX's have.

Unless someone is interested in taking it off my hands, just throw me a price. lol

Fyi when the spiders go in the t-case it usally takes the viscous with it, so basically you have a nice paper weight, I got 120.. for my last broken t-case on e-bay so I would expect in that range.
