Need help figuring out what part goes here.....

I need help trying to figure out what part is missing from my tranny.

some sort of black rubber thing. Mine is missing what is that part/what does it do?

Its a rubber cap for your trannys vent hole to allow it to vent, but decrease the amount of dirt and dust that get into it.

Think I could jam some open cell foam in there till I get a new vent? Lord only knows how long that vent cap has been missing.
