Manifold Coating

For the guys that have coated mani's especially tubular mani's who did you coating and how has it held up? Are you happy with the way it looks and performs? Did you use black or silver? Thanks guys I'm trying to make up my mind on a coating or just finishing the polish job and deal with the up keep.

SwainTech.com - get their White Lightning coating. It's functional - it will drop under hood temps on an exhaust mani. I just had my intake manifold coated with it. I've had my O2 housing & downpipe Jet Hot coated using Jet Hot's 2000 coating. The Jet Hot coatings have been on for 2 years and have held up incredibly well, but because they are so thin I can't believe they would insulate as well as the much thicker ceramic coating that Swain Tech does. I expect the Swain Tech coating to hold up just as well, but to do a much better job of insulating. If I had it to do all over, I'd be doing all those parts in Swain Tech's White Lightning.

The White Lightning coating is a dull white and is slightly porous. It will get dirty if left unpainted, and it's near impossible to clean it. I used simply hi-temp header paint (silver) and sprayed the IM to make it look like stock. Because of the porous nature of the material, paint holds extremely well to it.

I have been talking to the owner/manager Wayne he is down to earth guy.
He said he will warranty the coating against defects such as getting chipped off. Just return it and he will do it for free:thumb:
I can't believed I found a local coating company.
You can call them just look for Wayne and mention my name(VIN) for deals:thumb:

Full-Race T3 mani ceramic coated

Test fitted on Barry's car

I had to buy a new downpipe. The old one was hitting my A/C I also have to put V-band flange on my test pipe.

I had a local shop do some exhaust parts in cast iron grey and that polished silver stuff. The grey easily got dirty/stained if touched w/ dirty hands or spilled oil. The silver was easier to clean and didn't stain. They both held up well. Does anyone ceramic coat in polished black?

I know a few people with them. They look great at first but then after a while they get this yellowish rust color tint in them. AWD Mike sells Buschur ported one's too but they get them coated flat black locally in FL to cut down on Buschur's wait time. I personally bought one of those and its starting to flake off after only 1k miles. The port job is always awesome though!

BTW, my Buschur o2 which is also coated is starting to burn/flake (also only 1k miles) . There's just so much heat right there, IDK?

i have the ebay full race knock off, i installed it and kept getting red so i pulled it out welded a turbo support flange , i reinforced the collector and welds and hot jet coated it and i beat on my car and its still holding on so the jet coating is worth it

Get it done by a professional. I helped a friend coat a bloks turbo manifold for his civic turbo hatch and it just smoked a **** load because of it, and also turned back to a nasty brown. DO not by store items if you end up doing it Itll come right off.
