Did you ever find out what was wrong? My car is doing the same; it just stops building power and starts to cut out and shake. It only does it in 4th gear. Sometimes at 4k and sometimes at 5k?

 

I rechecked all hoses going to the turbo. I had a new radiator put in a few weeks before. The problem was a loose hose to my turbo. When the tutbo built up pressure the hose would pop off. I was lucky! I hope your problem is as simple as mine. Good luck and keep us posted.

 

how is that possible if the dealer said the boost leak check was fine? do the people that work at your local dealer have down syndrome?

 

long shot, but i had this with one of my mates e8 in australia. was a JDM E8 with 60,000kms on the clock.

The front pipe had some form of pre car or baffle in it that had dropped its guts. Stopped it from making boost and spooling normally. Similar to what has been described.

give it a hit with a rubber mallet or try shake it if theres space. if it rattles... then that could be your problem!.

 

Pre car? U must mean pre cat? And your friends e8 only did it in 1 gear or all gears? Cause mine only does it in 4th gear.

 

mine does it at all gears when reaching 1 bar...
