Alright i have an evo 8 and at around 4 thousand rpm it loses all its juice and the turbo pretty much stops working i took it to the dealer and they told me it was only running 7 psi and i had no major turbo leaks! and that my turbo is bad or waste gate dont shut all the way what do you guys think? would appreciate the feedback thanks!

 

Do you have a boost gauge installed on your Evo?

 

no just the stock one

 

so u have a boost gauge? I didn't think they had a stock boost gauge in the 8's

 

well it has the gauge with the bars that goes up to like 1.3 or something u know what im talking about?

 

Do you have 1 or 3 gauges in a row like the '05MR gauges that have a small mits. sign between them? I suggest pulling out your intake and checking your turbo for any play. Do you have a MBC anywhere, what are your mods? That would definitely help us diagnose the problem.

the only mods i have is an intake and hks ssq bov! also i got the three gauges in a row with the small mits symbols

 

does this sound like a bad turbo becuase it spools up fine at first untill it hits 4000rpm then pretty much loses all its power?

 

take off your intake please and check for shaft play in the turbo wheel. Make sure it does not rattle and feel extremely loose. Move up and down back and forward should not be loose. Nice and firm it should be. That hks bov is junk by the way might want to look into something else.

Yea that sounds like a boost gauge. If your car is stock you should be seeing a peak boost in the 19-17psi range with an Evo 8. I would probably reccomend checking for shaft play on the turbo though, pull of the intake and check it out. You're turbo might be broken

Take a look at your HKS, did you buy it used? maybe the piston is stuck open not letting you build boost?
