I would never install a new set of cams without a set of adjustable cam gears to play with. Only if the best result ended up being a setting of 0/0, would I drop the stock cam gears back in. For example, I am very seriously considering finally upgrading from my HKS 280 cams to a set of Kelford 272s, but if I do so, then I will also have the shop run them at various settings ranging from +2/+2, +2/0, 0/0 ... -2/-2. Once I take a look at the accompanying power curves and spool characteristics, I will make a choice as to where to run the cams.

Who said cam gears are useless, simply doesn't understand how an engine works.

i'm trying to get maximum response and spool out of my kelford 272's.
i was thinking of advancing the intake, and retarding the exhaust to lower the overlap.
Has anyone tried this?

Cheers, Mike
