Resonators/mufflers/quieter exhaust? Where and how?
Hey everyone,
I've done my search and I've found numerous topics about resonated test pipes, 18" long resonators, mufflers the size of trucks, all in an effort to quiet down the exhaust but every single person has had mixed results.
Example:
Person A: I put my resonated test pipe instead of my 3" straight through design, car is quieter than stock (exaggerating the quote but you understand what I mean)
Person B: I put a resonated test pipe, 18" resonator, 7 bullet mufflers and my car got louder... (exaggerating again ofc...)
Now my situation is:
I put on a Greddy Ti-C (Yes, Tamer was right when he told me I'll be sorry for buying it... I just can't seem to learn to listen to him no matter what - atleast I listened to him on other mods
)
With the catback I also put on a Ultimate Racing testpipe (3" + CEL fix). Well... I don't know how to put it but I'm writing this post because my ears hurt from driving to work. Especially thinking about the fact that there's still a 3" downpipe, o2 housing, cams, intake... Waiting to be installed. Which will make the car even louder, well atleast the downpipe will for sure.
My main problem is the low RPM sound. I don't care if it breaks houses in half when I'm WOT, but when I'm cruising around town and when I'm cruising on the highway, I want to do something about it. My problematic RPM range is 3200-3900. At those RPM's the car is so loud that I can't hear the radio over it, higher than that - it gets quieter, atleast from an ears point of view. It changes frequency to the "non-hurting" one.
What would you suggest for me, atleast to stop the droning and make the car enjoyable at normal speeds? (Yea I know, sell the exhaust, buy something else)
P.S. Word of advice to the guys from Europe who will actually be able to buy the exhaust. I had a Milltek sport full 3" with a 127mm!!!!! tip. I'd put it right back on over the Greddy Ti-C anytime. It was noise free compared to this noise factory,... So if you're looking at an exhaust - do your ears a favour and look in to the Milltek one. If I can't quiet down the Greddy, that's my route for sure.

Being from Europe, that isn't as easy as that may sound. There's not a whole lot of Evo's around... So that's why I'm looking in to alternatives of quieting it down - and I really like the way the exhaust looks on the car as well, so I'd keep it if just I was able to make it sound somewhat human.
I had a Thermal R&D catback. It looks like stock. It has a muffler and not a can. It sounds like stock at idle and out of boost. But if you go WOT on the highway it opens up to a very deep tone. There is also no drone and is very high quality. It however is very rare and hard to find

Is there any resonated test pipe that includes an o2 cel fix like the Ultimate Racing testpipe that I have on now? I guess I'll go from there.
P.S. I'd like the testpipe to still be shaped so I can chop the cat in half and put it over the testpipe so it looks like it's there for the local police :/
