Thumbs up Just replaced Forge DV with turbo XS

Just installed the Turbo XS H34 or R34, can't remember which already BOV on my Evo to replace my Forge BOV. Man, I really see how bad the Forge unit was now. Car drives sooo much nicer now that I don't have SURGE to worry about. I tried and tried to get the forge to act like it should....i'm the one that ported it, which helped some, but, it's performance is no match for the Turbo XS.

Plus, the Turbo XS is about the same price, and yes, it is a recirc. valve. They have one that's VTA if you prefer. Only thing wrong with it is that the piston body itself is very long and just barely touches the fan shroud, which should be bent slighty to accomodate. Anyway, just thought ya'll would like to know.

Also, if anyone is curious, it sounds just like the forge at low boost/low throttle levels, and sounds very Greddy Type-S at mid boost levels, and back to Forge sound at full boost, but without the fluttery sound, just a solid whooosh...i'm very pleased.

do you have a pic? I think that is the one my friend has in his GSX. Does it adjust the spring rate with washers?

Yeah, you adjust it with washers, i'm running 4 washers (out of 6) right now, and it's a tad soft, i'm gonna try 5 as soon as I get my lazy *** out there to work on it....also....the top of the piston UNSCREWS, instead of those horrible 6 or 8 or however many alen screws on the Forge.

Does someone need to host my picture to post it or will our board here host it for me?

It's suppose to be quiet, but once you add an intake with it. You can really start to hear it. Atleast that's what I was told.

It's actually a little quieter than the forge was, which means it not too terribly louder than stock.

Forge Motorsport stands behind all of its products. Our valves are used in many arenas of motorsport by such companies as Ralliart and have been used on many versions of Evolutions producing in excess of 500bhp. We have discussed part throttle vs. full throttle conditions of valve operation on this forum as well as others. We will, like we always have, offer complete customer satisfaction and if you are not happy with the valve just give us a call and we will refund your purchase amount.

If anyone is around the Orlando area and has an issue with valve flutter we would really like to have you come by so we can physically feel what your car is doing. Every car we have done here functions the same and we are not seeing flutter issues affecting the compressor wheel under high boost loads.

Well, i'd be willing to pay ya'll a visit one weekend. Perhaps you can get a good feel for some of the issues people are having with the DV. I'm in Daytona Beach, and I was having surge/fluttering issues with the DV.

H34 is an excellent valve. I had one on my Eclipse and it was set it and forget it. Will hold 30psi as well. I'm playing around with a crushed 1g valve right now, but if I'm not happy with it I'll be getting the H34.

I was getting nasty surges for a while there as well, but then I tried the green spring (less tension), in place of the yellow (Forge recommends yellow). Now it's VERY smooth... no surging whatsoever anymore and the it bleeds off excess boost rather smoothly..... opposed to surging like crazy. Forge originally told me not use the green spring, because the valve wouldn't hold boost as well.... but according to my HKS EVC boost gauge.... I cannot detect much of a difference with the green spring and I'm running 20 psi, and tapering off to about 18 or so. The rest of my mods are listed in my sig. Any ideas Forge? Maybe you guys need to reassess what is actually going on here.?
