1. Type of driving
2. Type of Fuel
3. RPM limit/powerband

I am not suggesting one or the other. Look at this thread for reference on what is possible on a Red with a 2.3:

Nothing against either turbo, but I would be happy to see you go with the BBK because it is a bit newer and haven't seen as many (and I don't mean not as good!) results from it than the Red so far. Either way, you're going to have a very fast spooling and capable torque monster. Especially on E85.

the BBK is not as large as the red..

the BBK will spool faster, the RED will make more power at higher boost..

Honestly, on a 2.3.... the red would spool pretty awesome... ours spools absurd on a 2.3 lol..

cant go wrong either way!!

^ Do you have any graphs of the 2.3 with a BBK full?

As far as type of driving goes the car is my nights & weekends toy. I will do maybe 2-4 track days a year if I can. I just want a nice streetable car that will be fun on the track as well. Since I had plenty of fun with the setup I'm running now (see my sig) I don't think I'll be upset with not having the highest HP possible. As for fuel I plan to have an E85 tune & a 93 oct tune. There's only 1 E85 station near & it's about a 10 min drive for me so I don't know that I'll run it all the time. I would like to, but I'm not sure it would be doable all the time. I'd eally like to try the BBK, but at the same time I don't want to wish I'd have gone bigger after I have it. I guess the good thing is I will have to wait a month or 2 after the engine goes in till I can get a turbo so maybe there will be more 2.3 BBK results by then. Thanks for all the input guys.

I've been through that thread a few times already, but there isn't much info on the BBK with a 2.3 . Igues time will tell. I'm still very interested in trying this.

On that thread, #3 phenem. I know he's just running a Lite and blowing out spark, but approx. 300lb. ft. at about 3500rpm isn't bad.

I agree, but still a BBK full with no issues is what I wanna see.

Exactly what track do you intend to drive your car on? Is it a high speed track with long straights and sweepers, or a tight track with short straightaways?

Nils is running the Red on a 2.2-Liter engine for closed circuit lapping duty. You may want to PM him for input. Also, I think that Chad Block himself runs a 35R on a 2.3 for Time Attack, if I'm not mistaken. So, you may want to ask him if he'd consider stepping back down to a BBK-Full on his track car.

Don't get me wrong, I am not dumping on the BBK. I have, in fact, asked myself the same question that you are posing. From my point of view, which is mostly worthless, on a stroker you should go for the larger compressor and turbine wheels of the Red if you will be doing any track work whatsoever. On the track I'd be looking for the lower compressor discharge temps, the lower EGT's, and the reduced back pressure that the Red could provide.

On the other hand, if I were to drive a stroker strictly on the street, I might opt for a fully ported BBK, coupled with a relatively high static compression ratio engine.
