The intake is around $275. Look around at the vendor forum, you find one there. Don't over paid.

Makes no difference what brand you choose just don't spend a fortune on it. Its just a section of tubing with a filter attached to it.

Buschur has a very nice one. I have his 3" cold air on my DSM and its freaking beautiful. Vishnu says an intake upgrade does not help and hurts HP. Then again he does not have the fastest pump gas EVO now does he?

Anyway here is a pic of the buschur intake. you definetly want a 3" intake pipe even if it is reduced to 2.5" to attach to your turbo.

look, im sorry to post this in here, but this trash talking lacks a bit of logic that is necessary to determine whether Shiv from Vishnu as a point in saying that these intakes actually hurt performance.

The response that he doesn't have the fastest evo on pump gas misses the point.

Aside from the fact that Vishnu runs on California's 91-octane, there is an even more dire problem with such criticism. There is not doubt that companies like Buschur, RMR, Pruven, UR, etc. are making incredible power on their EVO's with the tried and true methods of AFC / intake / exhuast tuning.

YET, this doesn't necessarily disprove the claim that intakes rob horsepower. To err in this way would be to equate the results of a comprehensive tune with the postive results of intake in and of itself. Meaning, just because all the parts make the car faster, the intake may or may not be contributing to that power.

The true test is whether, after all the other mods, an intake will make more power than the stock airbox.

someone test this, then let us all know

A 3" inlet pipe and high flow filter has been dynoed to make 10-15whp with no other changes on a 16G equiped 4g63 more times then my mind is capable of registering.

The fact you are not aware of this does not change the fact that it is a proven mod. If you choose not to accept this as fact, that is you're choice.

The fact that a so called tooner would suggest to the populus that removing the restriction in front of the compressor will not make HP is out side my realm of understanding.

The true test is whether, after all the other mods, an intake will make more power than the stock airbox.
This test was done about 10 years ago.

I'm not sure about the HP loss. My butt dyno says the car feels a ~tad~ bit slower, barely noticeable, but after I install my turbo back exhaust next week it will be fixed. The idea is to create horsepower as an overall package, not piece by piece, find out what works best with other mods. That's what I did. I have HKS RS and love it. Beautiful sound, high quality product, straightfoward install. Everything you could ask for.
