should I build my engine? and to what

Well today I pulled my tranny for a shep rebuild and decided to pull the engine to do the timing belt, water pump, kelford cams and springs. but im trying to decide if it would be a good idea to go ahead and build the engine while its out. ive got 85,000 miles on it now and im thinking about doin the ams 2.3 stroker. Or would i be better off doing a 2.0 build on the stock crank? What would you do for a daily driven car??

What turbo and hp level are you looking for? If you are staying on the stock turbo i don't see much need to build the motor.

2.0 is better for drag racing and still streetable with a 35r. But 2.3 liter makes a better street car IMO and still has tons of top end with a 35r. BUT with a 2.3 liter you cant rev quite as high which means you have to switch into 5th in the quarter mile if your pushing big power

As high as it makes power, haha. Kind of depends on the head/cams/valvetrain. I would say 8,000-8,500 would be the highest you would want to go.

I would strip it all down then bring pistons/rods/bearings to a machine shop you trust and have them take care of it. You'll likely save good money over a core swap at AMS.

If you drive it on the streets mostly, its hard to beat a well built 2.3 motor.

Daily driver? Then I wouldn't recommend running meth. My friend bought a car that was tuned to run on meth, he took it to AMS to have it retuned. Now he's pushing 400 on the stock 2.0 with the AMS GT35r turbo kit.

why don't you recommend it? He just didn't want to deal with the extra "care" needed in making sure his meth tank was filled up?
