4" intake pipe/stock maf
4" intake pipe/stock maf
i have a gt3582r turbo kit and im currently using the buschur intake but the turbo inlet is 4" i would like to know if there is any company that sells a 4" intake pipe that remains the stock maf ?
I am not sure it matters much if you got the maf in front of it anyway. My car has a 3" intake pipe on it and makes great power per psi I run. I do belive Mellon also has a 3" intake pipe when his car was ~600hp.
That being said I do plan to make a 4" pipe for my car, I just like to make things though I don't expect anything from it.

You can always just make one. I did. 4 inch 45 degree tubing, 1 1/8 inch tubing, measure, cut take to shop to get welded and install. The only problem is the lower radiator hose gets in the way using a true four inch intake pipe. You will have to indent the pipe to clear the hose properly.

I'm running a 3" pipe with a 3 to 4" coupler at the turbo...DLL shows 701awhp before I ran out of fuel pressure. I had another tuning company contact me about my experience because he couldn't get a car to idle with a 4" pipe and 3" coupler at the MAS...he ended up make a 3" pipe and it idled good again *shrug*

yeah, I'm not saying it will be bad, I don't know if that other tuning company knew what they were doing or not, but I wanted to put that out there to warn people just in case. I don't think I've tuned one with a 4" intake pipe, I don't advise it for my customers since 3" works great for me.
I'm with ya Mellon, and I will advise of any ill effect's in a week or two when running. DSG's thought which I agreed with was moving the restriction of the 3" coupler as far away from the turbo inlet as possible would help in the power dept. I have both a 3" and a 4" now...Maybe when the car goes on the dyno I will try to do a back to back...

the 4" pipe isn't going to do anything for you...you still have a 3" restriction regardless.
if you have a 3" exhaust with a 2" kink, it doesn't matter where it is...it's still effectively a 2" exhaust.

good to know...so like I said, the other tuner that was picking my brain just didn't know how to tune for it most likely. I have no personal experience but wanted to share just in case.
