How high can you rev HKS Cams

So i am going to install a set of HKS cams 264 and 272 and will maybe, maybe not do the valve train...

what do you all think i can rev the stock valve train with these cams......i will be doing a tune with this setup, but just tring to get an idea if its possible to rev higher then stock and not hurt anything nor lose and horsepower

Thanks

The powerband will drop off ~7500 with those cams and stock head so there is really no reason to rev past that.

I had the 264 intake and 272 exhaust cams in mine a while ago and I revved it out to 8k. Not saying that is recommended but I had no problems with it. I'm also OCD about the maintenance on my car so it always got fresh fluids and such and nothing but factory filters every oil change. Just FYI with those cams on a stock turbo you will not see a huge gain past 7500 rpm. After seeing this on the dyno I lowered my rev limiter back to 7800 and left it there.

What can HKS 272/272 rev up to and still make power. Im in the process of doing a buschur shortblock and stage 3 head. Im debating upgrading to the HKS 280s but not sure if its really worth the extra money or if mine should work fine. I was told the engine should be able to take 9k rpm but not sure if my HKS 272's will make power up there.

If you are doing a stage 3 head, you might as well get some high lift/high duration cams to make more power up top. HKS 272/280's are actually pretty mild compared to newer grinds.

ah yes, you don't really need to do a FMIC, with such a low level of mods. The stock one will be fine for now. Save your money for a turbo

Evo 8 + cams + tune + 3" TBE = v nice place to start

Better questions is will the turbo keep pushing with that much air? Most of the time its not worth reving that high on a stock turbo. But get springs and Retainers.

I ran a 35R on a 2.0L last year, and ran 272s on a forged motor/ported head combination to 9000 RPM. Still pulling hard up top...

Get Bf 272s if your running a larger turbo (35r).
