GT35r low end power

Hi Guys, I'm Alain from Panama (Central America...the Panama Canal etc )... I don't usually talk on the forums but whenever I can im taking a look around EvoM and trying to learn a thing or 2... Ive already try searching without too much luck and already have my flame suit on ... so here we go:

As many of you now its not to fun to wait for full boost on a gt35... im looking forward to get some more low end power out of my car... a stroker kit is not an option for the moment, and don't tell me to get a green or a red neither lol... i probably would if i had someone in my country to buy my current setup, but it is not very easy to sell a kit like that in my country...

My car setup:

I have a 04 Evo, i have a gt3582r, full 3" exhaust... no idea the brand of the dp but the cat back is Greddy, Buschur deluxe fmic, forge bov, 3" intake pipe, 800cc precision injectors if im not wrong, bosch wc3s spark plugs, tial wg...not sure if i left out anything.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Alain

the lag is something that is not going away...... unless you change the displacement.
you should probably think about reving the engine higher, maybe bigger cams, and "make up" for the low end dead spot

What AR is your turbine housing? First thing that comes to mind would be an HTA conversion. You could also try adjustable cam gears, smaller hotside, twin scroll (would require new manifold), work on the tune...

there are several things you can do to spool quicker. change cams, get a different exhaust housing for your turbo, get a better tune. those are some of the ones that probably effect you the most.

go a .63 rear housing and 27psi by 3800rpm

Like my setup... i wouldnt complain about that lag.

My car being retuned today on new fuel / ignition system, i'll post results once its done. So far on a light tune 414whp on Dyno Dynamics... (+100whp for DynoJet)

27psi by 3800? I can only hit 24psi with my green at 3800 rpm. It probably has more to do with your 2.3L. Besides he mentioned that a stroker kit is not an option for him. Do you have a plot of your boost graph, that's some crazy spool? BTW you should try out the twin scroll manifold and hotside to help your spool including adjustable cam gears.

Alain if the green or bbk or Tomei ARMS is not an option to solve your lag issue...

then your best bet is to get a smaller turbo to bolt into your setup

if your willing to sacrifice HP for Spool then get a GT3071R with a T3 .63 hotside that will bolt into your current setup - important that you get the right exhaust housing...

Thanks for all the replies

Any specific set of cams? I have no idea of the AR of the housing...i will need to check, what exhaust housing should i go if i swap and around how much $$$ for that? about the hta conversion... how much $? And that probably requires me to send my turbo to the US right?

Once again, thanks to everyone for the help... gotta love EvoM

What gear is that and was that on a dyno or the road?

Post a datalog on the road because that would probably be the fastest spooling 35r I've ever heard of and would like to see a boost plot. I'm on a 2.4 with .63 a/r HTA and make 30 psi at 4500 rpm in 4th gear.

One word: E85.

Do you have access to E85? I know it is big in South America, but I'm not sure about Central America. E85 will allow a LOT more timing, which will help spool that GT35.

Another possibility could be small cams, like HKS 264/264, or S1's by GSC. These cams are designed to capture the low end and mid range power. But, I've never seen anyone even test small cams with a (relatively) big turbo.

And of course, like you said, the expensive solution is the 2.3, or 2.4, or 2.6L.

I will look into those cams to see the best option... about the E85, we do not have access at all to that fuel here ... we just have 91/95 oct
