Just bought 06 evo! Problem!!!!

I just picked an 06 evo for 19k with 43 miles all stock.

The problem is, when I start up the car in the morning or a cold start. The car has a clicking noise on the top left corner of the engine. I was reading other and they all say that it is the lefters. I was wondering if the is right. If it is, what should I do.

One more thing, when running the car for a lone period of time and shut it off. When restart, it has a bad idle. Feels like it is going to die. Does t need new plug? Thanks guys.

Note: A turbo car feels a lot different

Congrats on an awesome deal.

Yea those are the lifters...usually happens when the oil is pretty new, which means you probably have break in the car so it goes away.

Also does it have a bad idle when: 1. You shut it off and immediately turn it back on???
2. You shut it off and turn it back on after a while??

Yes, when I shut off and immediately turn on. Same thing goes for #2. Is that normal?

the clicking your hearing is normal on a cold start unless its overwhelmingly loud, as for the rough idle, dose the car have an aftermarket bov, or intake system? if so this is probably your problem

It's 3 years old and has 43 miles? I would change the oil, coolant, brake fluid, drive line fluids and plugs. Put 500 miles on it and see how it feels then. Don't baby it too much, but don't thrash on it excessively. Sounds like the poor thing just sat too long and never even got broken in.

Sweet deal !!! One bad thing about Evo/sti is that when you buy it used, YES you save a few bucks but at the same time...you & I both can imagine how many times original owner Mastered the 2-step before magically puttn it back to STOCK !!! =)))

also one thing to reccomend use all dealer fluied dyaqueen, and the transfer case fluid. This is important and expensive if you dont have a friend who can hook you up. tranny fluid runs 105$4quarts and the transfer fluid 60$ and the acd fluid 6$ thats also the rear change. most transfer case fluids should be changed at 30000 stated on the manual and its important good luck.

5-7500 miles not 30000 depending on how hard you drive it.

If the lifter noise is not loud enough to be heard inside the car when driving, it is not worth messing with.

As for the idle, you may need a new stepper motor.
