Weird sound while tuning...Head Damage?

To make a long story short I was having my car tuned and the person tuning it forgot he put a 5k rev limiter on my car for a base map. He told me to do a 3k-6k pull in 3rd gear and when I hit the rev limiter set at 5k my engine made a terribly loud noise and so I pulled over to check everything out and I smelled coolant. I let the car run for a few minutes and nothing bad happened so we continued tuning. Once we got it dialed in I noticed the next couple of days that the car has continued to smell like coolant and notices it was leaking a little around the front passenger side of the car. The car wasnt doing anything weird or giving me any indications of a major issue. Well tonight, I was running through the gears and now there is a loud ticking sound in my engine like a valve or something...

What do you guys think and if it is a head issue then how do I diagnose the problem and how much do you guys think it will cost to fix the problem?

Thanks for all the help!

Ok, thanks for the help guys! I just did a compression test and the number came back as:
Cylinder 1 - 135
2 - 133
3 - 141
4 - 138
So now im still a little confused. Also, I noticed that the noise doesnt happen until the car reaches a certain temperature. I am going to order a new head gasket and I already have the ARP headstuds sitting in the garage so hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Im not really mechanically inclined so im a little confused as to why there is a loud clacking sound just from a bad head gasket? Should I just pull the head and see if there is a bent valve or any other damage?

Wouldnt you hear rod knock at idle? B/c when the car is below 2500 rpms you dont hear a thing.

I put two water pumps in my car. Each time it happened after the car sounded like something big let go. The dealer had no idea how it happened. I had the boost at 22 psi which should be ok. I suspected that the head was lifting because there is no other way to blow out a pump that quickly. Put head studs in and the problem has gone away.

Well I dropped it off at TPG tuning and they said I spun a rod bearing or something. As far as the water pump...it seems like the coolant is coming from directly below it so I will have them check that out too. Man this is going to cost a lot more than I expected. I just bought this car about 2 months ago with 15k miles on it and I never dreamed of having this problem. The Evo I had before was a '04 RS model with way more miles/ power/ and mods and never had a single problem with it. Oh well I guess, ..what do you guys suggest that I replace since im already in there fixing stuff?

I just cant believe that all this happened b/c of a 5k rev limiter...Lol I mean do you guys seriously think that was the cause or do you think it was something different. I mean I hate to think that it was but I havent had a single problem with the car until that happened and now im leaking coolant and taking a motor out of my car..?

not if you can get to the rod ends from the bottom!!!
just buy a set of rod bearings, (maybe some new rod bolts?) drop the oil pan, unbolt the rod ends, take out the old bearings, put the new ones in and bolt everything back up. run it for a few hours and then recheck the rod bolts, make sure theyre good or retighten if you have to and then you should be done. should be less than a days work.

do it ASAP, stop driving the car now so you dont warp the journals.

It could be balance shaft bearings. I'd describe this as a card in the bicycle spokes noise. When it occurs it always has to do with oil pressure. So, get the engine hot and go WOT from slow speed and get the sound. The rest of the time, no noise.
