Is it worth the $$$, Or should I invest it somewhere else?
I plan on getting s2's or s3's valve springs and retainers, arp head studs. just thinking with it off if I should really get it done.
TIA
Cory

if the mods in your sig are up to date, get a ported intake manifold and throttle body first

I just got my BR sgt. III head a couple days ago. I also have spare t/b, i/m, and e/m to get them ported at the same time at BR. IMO a ported head alone will yield minimum results.

Cory -- You'll gain a little bit porting the head / changing the valves, but it is quite expensive (compared to other mods). If your head is already coming off for some reason, then sure it is a nice step to take, but other than that I would recommend investing elsewhere.

Agreed.

IF you are building the motor and its apart then there is definitely good reason to do it then. If you are looking for the last little bit out of whatever your current combo is then its also a good thing to look into.

I will post some before and after pictures of both an Evo IX head (awesome intake, horrible exhaust ports) and an Evo VIII head (the exact opposite) we ported recently to show why sometimes this is a mod that is worth doing right away.

Its already been said, but if its coming off, its not a bad idea. Its like the midway point between the exhaust and intake and youre better off opening up the ends before you dig into the middle. But if the head is coming off, you might as well plan ahead and do it now.
