Transfer Case Diff Help

I blew my diff over the weekend. Well I got a new diff today and didnt notice this until I went to put it back together.

Inside the carrier for the diff, there are abunch of scratches from where the diff blew and the parts scraped the carrier. Will those scrapes and gouges effect the new diff? I run Redline Heavy shockproof in the TC and I have a new RS LSD, so I cant see where they would effect anything, but if they will, whats the best way to clean it and make it usuable, or just get a new one?

Thanks

I would suggest using like a scotch brite pad or an emory cloth and rub down any burs that may be in there. Other than that, if they are jus mild scratches i wouldnt worry about it. Mine had the same deal and its still going strong after about 10k miles. Hope that helps!

Yea I ran a scotch brite pad over it. I can see where the scratches or anything would hurt it, seems how if I remember right, the outside of the diff doesnt turn. oh well, I might just get ahold of TRE and try to get a new carrier that it said they have.

That way I know its right.

If you get a new carrier the ring and pinion will need to be setup again. You may also need new bearings for that side. Personally I wouldn't sweat it unless the gouges are deep.

I would take your own advice and speak with Jon if you're worried.

I talked to Shep and they sell used ones but they are about $100. I think Im just going to take some fine sand paper and get any of the burrs off and leave it at that.
