MIVEC on Exhaust?

So on the Ix we only have MIVEC on the intake side. But I have heard about there being a module for the VIII that allows them to have MIVEC on the Intake side.

Is there a module like this for the IX on exhaust side?? I mean there are cam gears that we can put on the exhaust side but can we design a module for this to make it electronically adjustable? I think that would be pretty damn nice lol.

Anyhow am I crazy for wanting this? Any input would be nice.

It's called VANOS and it already exists. You just have to fork out the money for an E46 M3 and then turbo it.

You know what is funny? HKS sells a system for GTR's (r32-r34) that does this very thing. One system for each cam. Exhaust and Intake side. I think BerserkerX asked a valuable question. This is technology that we need. Why anyone has not seveloped it yet I am not sure. In Impot Tuner magazine article I-Vtec was added to the intake side of the boosted C-West carbon fiber S-2000 and it gained 1000rpm in spool response. While I am no engineer and cannot speculate how much an exhaust cam Mivec system would contribute to response, I have a feeling it would be at least worth some research.

So the RB engines have something from HKS that will do this?? I am not a huge Nissan fan but I didn't know about that. I did a huge write up on another forum on how that all the variable came timing works from each manufacturer. Imho I-vtec and the Audi system were from my research the best.

The reason why you have a variable intake cam is that it makes a large difference. The exhaust cam...not so much. Diminishing ROI when compared to the intake camshaft.

Still new to the world of VVT but doesn't the exhaust side help with scavenging exhaust? I loved tuning the MIVEC to get more power and not add parts to the car.

+1 to this.

dyno testing has proven that variable exhaust makes little difference
