like i said my twin scroll htagt35r spools damn fast. 20psi by 4k rpm in 3rd gear on a stock 2.0

from the red dyno graphs my 35r spools about the same but with more top end power

I can see this turning into a war but I'm interested to see what people have to say. It's all in the setup and personal preference. I love my Red and it's not even close to it's full potential yet. I was in an hta35r car as well and didn't personally like the lag it had from a stop. Don't get me wrong....I wished I had the top end of a 35r but there's always a compromise. Oh well.

by "new" fp turbo, you mean the red with the 80mm surge port that's an extra option at no cost???
it looks like they're just trying to get the red to it's full potential before moving on to another project

Seems like the only turbo to go to beyond a red is some variant of the 35r

in my opinion their is no comparing a stock housing garrett 35r and a red. the red will KILL it all day the 35R has a 62lbMin wheel the red has 65lbmin wheel(i think its been a while) but because of the smaller turbine housing on the red they make about the same power the 35r will have very little more uptop. but people say the red's arnt laggy B.S they have a fair amount of lag look at a dyno sheet dont start making power till your in the 5's. but heres were people get confused if you take a none stock housed 35r say an HTA the 82 or 86, or a 6262 and compare it to a red its a joke. the red will spool a little faster not much. and those turbo's will blow the doors of a red's doors all day just my opinion.

I dont buy that the reason to upgrade from a red to a 35R is just b/c the red is lacking top-end power. Although maybe not quite as good as a 35R, you can still make really good top-end power with the red. That was the whole reason that the green was toppled as the best overall turbo- because it was lacking top-end and the red made up for that downfall while still offering good spool-up. Weren't guys making 550+whp with the red? That's pretty good power. I don't see why you would give that up just for another 50hp with a laggier 35R?

Just like in EVERY thread in EVERY forum, it happens ALL THE TIME. Like this one, it's about upgrading from the Red. And looked what happened? It became Red vs HTA35r.

I was not looking for a full kit to put on my car. I might want to go back stock, so the red was perfect for my needs.

If you run out of air from the red, they offer this sweet kit called Nitrous! It is air in a bottle. LOL That should get your top end charge going again!

I will have a kit on mine when/if I ever exhaust the red's capabilities. Prob make the Evo my DD before that all happens and then build another V8 for drag racing.

You sound like me. I go through turbo different turbo ideas and cars like crazy. I recently picked up an 8, and with the amount of technology and products available for this car, it's probably the worst car I could have chosen! haha

BTW.... my Red is scheduled to be installed and tuned next Saturday! I hope the excitement lasts a while!

I read somewhere that Buschur said his project white with the red made enough power to go 10.20's. Thats fast. Theres an evo equipped with a red running 9.50's. With the proper mods why would you need to upgrade on a street car? David said the project white car is more enjoyable to drive than his RS. I wouldnt run any bigger than a red on a stock block. As far as lag goes, with a 35r, if youve built your top end too, you can rev higher and take advantage of the larger wheels.
Maybe everyone wants the 9 second badge?
