the idle on my 8 goes crazy when the cooling fan kicks on and off any suggestions. it happens when im stopped runs great when im going.

This also happens on my IX and is friggin annoying!!! The cooling fan will just go on out of no where, then shut off out of no where and then turn on again. It happens sporadically every minute or so, and annoys the hell out of me when I'm at a light, or just idling in a lot or whatever.

Is it the thermostat? What else could cause the fan to go on and off so much in such a short period of time?

I think first post was referring to his idle quality changing when fan turns on. this is usually caused by fan blowing into air flow meter and changing the karmann count.
