Tighten up your serpentine belt. My mothers lancer would squeak after driving through a puddle or anytime water has hit the belt.

Same for me if I wash it and don't cover the hood. Doesn't do it when it's dry tho. Odd.

There is a tensioner on it somewhere, if not, loosen your alternator bolt, and twist it out until the the belt is taught. Your alternator should be on a little slide thing, that will adjust for a loose belt, I think, don't quote me here. But that is standard on most cars...

How can you tighten the belt if there is a tensioner on it? I thought the point of the tensioner was just like its name, to keep tension on the belt. And the fact that its spring loaded enables it to adjust.

Im pretty sure there is also some type of spray which helps to reduce the squeaking of the belts.

How many miles does your car have? I live in Miami and it rains all the time and i have never had this problem.

i dont think u can tighten the tensioner becuase it is auto tensioned.. it can only be loosened and then unloosend to let it go back into tension.

( you put a 1/2" driver in the square hole and turn to untension)

check to see if your accessory belt has cracks. If it does its time for a new belt. Also, check to make sure the tensioner is keeping enough tension on the belt.

evos do not have adjustable tensioners. its an automatic tensioner. the alternator does not adjust at all.

Mine did the same thing when it rained/was wet. It kept getting worse so I checked it out and the pulley was loose. I don't know if it was related, but tightening it helped but didn't eliminate it. I ended up getting a fluidampr and it still does it a tiny bit. The belt was fine also, no cracks or anything. I'll be replacing the belts later this year and I imagine it'll stop squeezing for good.
