NLTS is NLTS doesnt matter what tuning software enables it.

I had the dreaded 6 speed and about 500whp (dynojet) and she took it like a champ. Just use the clutch smoothly when you release and don't rush too much.

NLTS with a clutch cut seems to be easier on the tranny then a good fast shift without the ignition cut. But fast shifts are fast shifts and they beat things up.

If you are worried about breaking stuff, then just don't shoot for quick ETs because without fast shifts, you'll never run a good time for the setup you have. I've seen kids that "shift quick" drop 0.5 second off their ETs and pick up 4-5mph with just a "real man" 1-2 shift, no other changes.

If youre not shifting fast enough then you shouldnt NLTS.... Period..... The patch doesnt make up for a slow shift, it just helps. A proper shift should result in a smooth shift and the rpms shouldnt jump up more than 50-75 rpms.

Cheers!

From what i have been told it you are using the NLTS patch properly there will be significantly less stress on the drivetrain. This is due to the fact that the revs are being matched which makes things easier on the syncros. I know when i NLTS i am able to bang through the gears quickly and smoothly. The patch allows my shifts to be so much more consistent then before.

Not quite.

Think of the syncros like brakes. Using NTLS is like shifting the car into neutral at a high rate of speed and slamming on the brakes to slow it down. Making them work harder/faster generates more friction, and heat, and that means faster rates of wear.

What is hard on the drivetrain parts is shock from abrupt application of torque, especially when there is a good deal of counter resistance, such as high vehicle mass or shifting into high gear at a high rate of speed (great wind resistance). For example, take a GT-R, put it into gear and floor it from a rolling start, an the diff will probably last the life of the car. Switch the car into 'launch mode' and do a power launch, and the same amount of power will break the diff, resulting in a non-warrantied $19k USD repair bill.
