evo will not rev passed 3000rpm????

03 evo 8 while driving I was boosting the car cut out and now will not rev passed 3000rpm it seems like the comptuer is not allowing it to almost like a safe mode???

sounds like a valet mode or something. Good search would be the previous suggestion on limp mode....

i would say valet or limp mode dont think it could really be anythiung else... does your car have an alarm on it

I disconnected the battery let it stand for 10 seconds reconnected fired up and good to go. Tried disconeecting the MAF made matters worse.

your car went into limp mode. even though ur good to go...it was caused by something obviously check it out. a friend got this due to bad gas....

if thats the case then yeah i would have to agree with rolly and say bad gas prob caused it

I'm not very familiar with my evo or pointing causes to symptoms but my car did the same once when I forgot to plug the maf sensor back in after some work. Maybe something could be wrong related to that. Mine sounded normal up to 2k rpm and started to have a hesitant rumble to 3k area and wouldn't do anything past it.

what did u do to the car before this happened? filled in a tank of gas? reflash to tephra 5.11?
