CAT problem

Hi folks! I got a little problem with my Evo right now. My car is due for emission inspection this coming June and here in Georgia you need a catalytic converter in order to pass the emission. I got a fully built Evo 9 MR, my downpipe is magnaflow and my problem is I cannot install back my cat converter because I lost it when we moved to our new house. Can somebody give me an advice as to what kind of good CAT am I going to use and a cat back in order to pass the emission?

Thanks! All your advice are greatly appreciated.

Really? How the heck was that? I mean, how can you pass if you have no catalytic on? Btw, I have no engine light on.....

If there's no check engine light as long as they don' look under there it will pass.

I'm not sure it will pass because everytime I crank up my Evo 9(especially in the morning) there are some black carbon that is coming out of the pipe and I noticed that it has more smoke coming out than a regular car.

You options are:

- Buy a cat. If the cops are dicks there and you want to make sure you pass and its a good cat, run it.
- Buy a cat. If the cops/ emissions are laid back there and its a good cat, just install it for the test and put the testpipe back on after you pass.
- Camouflage your test pipe to look s like a cat and it might pass visual. No guarantee on smog but that's a different story.
- Just go get tested anyway with your testpipe in its tespipe obvious glory and hope for the best. Remember though, just because someone passed emissions because they didn't bother to look under the car (i.e. skipped/incomplete visual inspection) doesn't mean you should bet on it. Be prepared to get denied and be back at square one.

Some of the best and highest flowing cats are from Ciro Designs or Mil Spec (same) on this forum. Skip the Catco and Random ones, they aren't worth the losses and IMO you'd be better off just using a stock one for the test and swapping back to the TP after. if you can get away with that.

IIRC the magnaflow isn't particularly high-flow for turbo cars and is a pretty big restriction. I could be wrong though. Oh, and it's defnintely not worth $570!
