Silicone Hoses

Just trying to inform everyone never to buy the silicone hose kits from pepboys or auto zone or w/e auto store is around you lol. I bought 1 and put it on late last night then took the car for a drive today and because of the slipperyness(for lack of better word), one of the hoses slipped off my mbc and melted on my manifold. Also, because the hoses were thinner and less capable of taking a beating like rubber, it would get really flimy when the heat got to it and for some reason I heard fluttering. I changed back to the original rubber hoses and problem solved, everything is back to normal. So the point of this whole post is just informing everyone that silicone vacuum hose kits art probably not the best engine dress up deision.

I didnt use a clamp on the hose that came off because the rubber one didnt have one...but all the other hoses stayed on securly and didnt slip off, unless there was air slipping around the sides of where they were attatched to. I only used the clamps that i had available when i started, but when i put the rubber hoses back on i didnt have a problem at all.

Clamping all the ends down or at least using zipties would definitely help out the situation. Or just leave the lines alone unless your cleaning up the engine bay and tucking wires.

yeah you didnt use clamps or zip tie and you blame the product? yeah your right quality silicone used on those cheapo kits were probably unable to take the heat and started melting.

again... ZIP TIE!!!!!

I'd bet that those hoses are actually vinyl or some other low quality plastic, mabe junk silicone.

Zip-tie or clamp ALL vacuum lines no matter how small or how minor you think they are!

if they went on easy they were to big, that could explain why they popped off like that, i never zip tied my hoses not until I went over 30psi.
they also sell small mini ss clamps for vacuum hoses, easy to remove and put back, zip ties you need to always put new ones.
