compression test results???

did some searchin on numbers and just curious. i got 155psi on 3 cylinders and 145 on another. i see most people get 170ish. motor was moderately warm. the numbers are lower than most but the psi across the board was within 10psi. so i wonder if anyone else has seen these numbers or maybe my gauge reads low(brand new gauge by the way).

I've been told just having consistency is the best way to look at it. Most of the time the compression testers are just cheapo units and they don't even match from set to set.

Cams, altitude, and having the throttle open while testing also have an effect. I think your motor is likely in great shape.

Your numbers are fine. The 170 numbers you're reading about about are for the guys with VIII's, you have a IX, your numbers will be lower because you have MIVEC. I'm not sure off the top of my head what the acceptable range is for the IX, but I believe your numbers are on the upper end of the spectrum, and they're consistent so you are good to go.
