what i know most of the owners in jamaica do is well brackets/plates at different sections on the gearbox which work pretty well but as you and i know they eventually break again, will try and get some info on this for you.....

I'm aware of the casing breakages. But as stated above, you can brace the box to prevent this.

Running a box from an evo, will pose many problems. Ratio's being the main one, and thats after you've adapted it.

In all honesty, for the hassle, I would just sell the car and buy an evo.

I had the pleasure of meeting one in person. I agree that you should sell it and find yourself evo . I was very disappointed in the GTIR. The drive was unipressive to say the least. Evo drives ten times nicer. GTIR = terrible soft chassis for bone crunching ride, weak trans, very weak valvetrain. Cool on paper....but evo is the real McCoy.

if you can locate a gearbox from the sunny b13 gts 4wd attessa, that can work and is a bit stronger than the gti-r box, the bolt up same only difference is that the bellhousing is smaller, and uses same everything.
