Bad First Gear Noise HELP!!!!

Hey guys, last Wednesday I went to the track and I decided to launch my car at 6000rpm. I do have an ACT HDSS clutch and prolite flywheel in the car. Anyway, The car shot out and started to wheel hop real bad. At the end when I was pulling around I noticed a very loud whine in first gear when I accelerate and decelerate, (SOUNDS LIKE A ****ING COP SIREN!) It really doesn't whine in any other gear except 1st. When I put the clutch in the noise stops! I asked a bunch of people and they say its the transfer case. I really want to be sure its the transfer case before I take it out and get it fixed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

u say it sounds like a cop siren, does it sound like a whining noise, kinda high pitched? if so a whine usually indicates t-case is going.
where are u in nj? what track u go to?

yes, a very high whining noise. I went to Island drag way on Wednesday night. If I knew it was the transfer case I would def send it out to Shep to get a super rebuild!! Got to make sure though, I don't want to throw away money like this!

If you hear the noise only in first gear and not in other gears then it's not the tc. If the tc had a problem then you would hear the whinning in every gear and even when rolling in neutral.

If you hear whinning in first gear only probably it's the gearbox, the input shaft and the first gear's teeth. I have this noise too in first gear and many people here too. I don't know how bad is your noise but if you want check YouTube under my nickname and check a couple of incar videos that I have. You will hear how my car sounds...

Also if you wheel hopped it's not the clutch but the tire/wheel combo you run and the track
Conditions.

Thanks Kouz, that is so the ****ing sound in all your videos. So I guess my tranny took a ****. How are you still racing with that **** like that? Aren't you afraid that its going **** up even more or even lose 1st gear all together! If it doesn't **** anything up, I'm going to start racing the car again. lol. I noticed you have a 2 step in your car, what do you have it set at if you don't mind me asking? Also I see your from new york do you ever hit up island drag way, I was wondering if you knew how to put a 2 step on my flash, the tuner took one off and never put one back on. I'm probably going to go on may 20, its a Wednesday, Its 15 bucks race form 630 to 10 and they throw a BBQ for everyone. let me know if you down! Thanks for all your advice. Chris

I have to shift a bit quicker to 2nd, or I'm bouncing off the rev limiter. Mine does make that jerking whiny sound but I have a shep trans, and it's normal. it also does it in all gears. it's not my Tcase, it's good. So it's hard to say. But the fact that it is only in 1st I'm leaning tword your tranny aswell.

I have the same problem and ironically caused it in a similar fashion. Wheel Hop. It's the tranny. I've replaced the t-case, and it still has the sound. Been driving with that sound for over 10k now and seems to be ok. Not getting any worse. Car shifts fine.
