I have a similar sound in first. Not very loud but it's there only in first. Just got the car. Hope it's not too bad. I do have an aftermarket clutch installed though so maybe just that.

 

test drove the car again yesterday, really drove it harder. It still could be the transfer case!

 

i have the exact same noise....Only whines jst like in the video...just in the first gear and nuthing else...realy confused as to what to do...can any1 share sum light on it?......

what's the fix to it? or is it jst fine like this?

 

its your first gear on your input shaft.
I did the same exact thing, wheel hop out of the hole and I came in with that nice new sound.
It will run fine and shift fine their is just a irregularity (chipped tooth or bent, whatever) when the gears mesh they come together with a tight tolerance and the gear whines (more so then normal) when it comes into contact.

 

thats all fine but my gear has become very hard...although i had a oil change jst last week...the gear is hard and getting stuck when im trying to get in gear.( not all the time but occasionally...???

 

well, guys can i join the club? mine is also doing it, from what i been reading seems like its something i shouldn't worry about unless it gets worst. so looking forward to the track next week.

 

Mine also made the noise after a couple launches. I sent it into shep to have it refreshed and told him about the noise, said it was normal for cars that are lauched and that I could replace first gear but it would just happen again.

I put probably 50 passes on it since then without any further issues. Bottom line is if you are going to launch the car you will eventually have this noise.

I have a Shep trans with about 8,000 miles on it and it just started making a whining noise in 1st gear alone. I hear it more when I decelerate and when I push the clutch pedal down. Everything seems to be working fine though. I saw an earlier post by someone that said it's normal with a Shep trans?? I sure hope so!

 

so i have a very similar problem but the only thing different is that is makes this noise even when im on the clutch but still in first gear. asoon as i take it out it goes away then asoon as i put it back to first and it starts again. but when im on the gas in first it doesnt make the noise only when i let off the gas clutch in or clutch out it makes the noise but only in first gear
