this is the bolt under the freeze plug that holds the fork in. HOW are you people getting this bolt undone with the tranny still attached to the block!? or how do i release the throw out bearing with the tranny still attached to the block. ive tried so much whats the secret!? (R.I.P. middle finger nail)

It would be very difficult to remove that bolt and rod through that hole without separating the transmission from the block. Much easier to release the bearing or remove each pressure plate bolt.

There is a picture or two in some of the threads listed that show exactly where the screwdriver belongs. But do you know what the wedge collar looks like?

Ok, I had the same problem. What worked for me was that I switched to a thinner screwdriver and after I worked the driver in between the collar and bearing, I hit the back of the driver with my hand until it would go no more. After that, I twisted as hard as I could and it released.

It does not matter witch way you twist the screwdriver. The bearing will "popping" away from the collar and the collar will stay put.

I almost typed " and the celebration started" at the end of my 2nd to last post, but am dragging. It will move as far as wide your screwdriver. After using the smaller driver, I swapped out for the fatter, wider screwdriver and twisted again, to make sure that the bearing had released.

I have become a pro at this, and not by design. The threads helped, but also you need to be applying pressure on the fork lever towards the engine side and at the same time twist the screwdriver. If you don't have enough hand strength to push the lever towards the engine, then use a 1/2" drive extension and place it behind the lever and push towards the engine, but be sure that the srewdriver tip is between the wedge collar and the TOB. Once the lever is as far towards the engine as possible... TWIST. It will come off. Let the force work for you... not against you (not referring to any star wars stuff; this is a pull-type clutch, let the pressure plate help you "pull" the wedge collar away from the TOB).

You will feel resistance in the lever and then it will relax big time and will travel all the way to the right. This is when you can do your fireworks because the wedge collar will be released from captivity

is the lever all the way to the right? If it is, the TOB and wedge collar are released. If it is stuck in the half way position, then it is still locked in. Just keep trying.

Yes, the lever should be to the far right if you were successful and it should be much easier to move the lever.
