Installed HKS downpipe Help ~~

Hey guys after I installed the HKS downpipe my car has this WERID noise I never heard before. It sounded like a cheap *** COROLLA exhaust on the LOW RPM my car never sounded like this before the downpipe. Is this normal because I have never installed downpipe before so I am very paranoid with the LOW RPM noise.

First, what other mods do you have one your car? When I installed mine It was my first modifcation and I didnt notice any change in sound except that the turbo spooled lower and the whine became louder at lower rpms.

Could it be rattling or making contact with something?

I would double check for exhaust leaks and reset the ecu if you haven't already. Its most likely normal, whenever you put a full catless exhaust on a 4 cylinder car it starts to sound pissy.

Although our engines are turbo it is still an inline 4 design like the civic and corrolla, when you open up the exhaust system that much it starts to get high pitched.

I have the same sound too, a raspy noise at low rpms when you move from a stop? I installed my HKS downpipe the other day and was surprised that the stock downpipe did not use a gasket to seal against the o2 housing but rather a donut ring in the o2 housing which seats against the taper on the flange of the downpipe. The HKS downpipe is exactly like the stock downpipe in terms of the flange/taper. I am pretty sure there is an exhaust leak there so I am going to take the dp off tomorrow and put some copper high temp gasket on the taper of the downpipe. Does anyone else have this problem? How did you guys install the downpipes? Did you use gasket maker as well?

The noise can be HEARD when COLD starting the engine,
I was thinking maybe a leak somewhere between the downpipe and the cat.

To me it sounds like your describing the gear whine in first gear.

Does it only happen in first gear, or does it happen in every gear but just at the lower rpm range?
