I had the S2's when I was on the Green. Switched to them from HKS 272s, and there was a noticeable increase in power after 6500.

im running s2 on my bbk full and they work great, car pulls to redline and never dies off. if you are going to rev out to 8000 i would do the s2 and beehive spring combo. with the s1 you will loose a little bit top end but not have to change the springs.

Really depends i suppose on your long term goals rather than just this turbo.

The S2 is a little outside of the effective range of the green turbo imho the S1's are a better match but will probably produce slightly less peak horsepower. The S2's will probably be a good choice if you're having difficulty deciding how much power will be "enough" as it will suit larger turbos for future power addition.

My own personal choice with s1 cams has more to do with californian smog laws rather than cam potential.

the mid range is great on the s1's.... no sense in running s2's on a small turbo imo.... use the powerband more effective/wisely.

i ran the FP green/s1 combo for quite a while & was very successful with it, killer street car combo.

I'm running S2's/ beehive springs with a stock IX turbo @27-28psi at the moment. I couldn't be happier with the setup and power delivery, even with a stock IX turbo. I will be upgrading to a larger stock frame turbo and still sticking with the S2's. Here is a thread that shows gains with big cams and a "small turbo"

I am also deciding between similar cams. The S1 or Kelford 272. Looks like the vendors and the manufacturers recommend the smaller cams but a lot of people are using the bigger cam in a street setup.

I ask Kelford between the 264 and the 272 for a 20 G setup and they said:

"The 272 will make a slightly higher dyno figure, but the 264 will be faster on the street."

I ask why and he said.

"Faster because the dynamic compression is higher, the engine is more responsive in the low end."

I am not sure if this is the experience people have had with them.m Let me know if you find out anything different.

Over on Lancerregister, our British Evo cousins favor the S2's with the Green turbo.

For a street Evo 8 i would suggest the S1 for sure. With out mivec, the spool or low end power is going to be lower on the S2 vs the S1. Think of how many times you go by 5k rpms daily vs 7k rpms... more power where you drive the car is what would go after.

GregGSC,

What is the duration for the Evo 8 S2 at 1mm? Is it 235 or is it 228? The stikiller and power division sites have different specs for the S2 on the 8? Which are correct ones?

With S2s and 25PSI on my 10.5 VIII turbo and my car hauls, I usually wind my car out on the highway so for me the top-end is worth it. As others have said, the top end is just nasty and keeps pullin, my car seems to hold boost better.
