Depends. How many short trips do you do? Thicker oil is of course harder to start when the engine is cold obviously. IMHO do you have issues with your oil temps or burning it? I would say leave it but that's my .02. I just know that you still have a winter up there in WA your not in a place where its hot 24/7/365. My car had a hell of a time starting here in Utah when it had a 5w30 in it for the winter. It was also -45 at night though stupid Utah lol.

No. That oil is too thick for the stock internals and will cause engine temps to rise. It won't damage anything though.

i put about 5000 miles a year (not my dd) when I stop, the car idles really low which makes the oil temp drop super low, and i dont think it burns oil. im now live in socal now im in the place that summer all the time 90/ 100+ hot .

thanks for ur response

+1

Stay with 0/5/10/w30 untill you build your motor. I use Omsoil SSO 0/30and it works Great. Better then Mobile 1 and Eneos.

I will be going to 15/50 once it is built.

Because of the tight clearences in the stock motor I would ONLY do 10w-30. If you get the motor built ask whoever builds it what oil you should use. Not every builder is going to have the same specs.

I use Mobile 0W40, and i've been losing oil every 1000miles since summer started, I checked for leaks and everything but couldn't find anything, also did a compression test and everything seem to be find.

My car has an HTA35R with a stock block, so should I change to 10W30??
