trouble installing the transfer case
Man, there's just nothing but endless problems with this car.
Anyways, The new clutch and tranny is finally installed. Besides not knowing where the starter bolts are, I'm having bigger problems with the transfer case. I pick it up, try to put it on the teeth, and push it in but it won't go in. I tried putting it on a jack and pushing it in but it just won't go. I tried rotating the drive shaft so that I can spin the teeth to line them up but that doesn't work either. Any tips on getting this thing in?

I couldn't get mine lined up by myself. The car was on jacks, not a lift so maybe get someone to help for more control. Just put it on straight and get the bolt holes lined up and get a bolt in, it's easy from there. It was difficult to get it on.
Get a second pair of hands to keep the transfer case square to the motor/trans and line the bolt holes up. Then wiggle the transfer case back and forth alittle to get it started on the splines. Once you get it on make sure to start a bolt so it doesn't slide back off the splines. The key to really getting it back on is to match the same angle of the motor/trans or you will never get it back on. If the motor is at a angle that you can't match with the K member being in the way of the transfer case then you will need to change the angle of the motor. Just my 2 cents.
Ive done it like 5 pr 6 times now. If you drop the K member it will go in alot easier. The k member wont completely come out, it will just lower a couple inches and it will make it much easier. After you get it up in there it line it up and get it started on the splines, then just rotate the tailshaft up and down and the splines will eventually just slip all the way on.

Drop the K member a bit as already stated. Be sure to check the t-case o-ring if you've been messing with it for a while. Good chance you may have nicked it by now. You won't want to have to pull the t-case again for a $2 part.
