URGENT: No 1st or 2nd gear... uh oh!

I was pulling into a gas station today when I went to shift from 3rd to 2nd when it slipped into 2nd and there was nothing there. No gate to enter...no synchronization. I tried 1st gear to the same result. Nothing. The shift lever moves into the position, but there is no feel. It feels the same as when you enter nuetral.

From my limited experience with broken gear boxes...I'm assuming I broke my 1-2 shift fork. Anyone want to confirm or deny this? I checked the linkage at the shifter...it's good. I watch the shifter move at the trans...it moves.

I have 3rd, 4th, 5th, and Reverse...but nothing in 1st or 2nd. I was able to limp my car home in 3rd gear.

Dumb question #1) Can I change my shift fork w/out removing the gear box?
Dumb quetsion #2) How do you explain the synchros failing since they worked fine literally 2 seconds before this?

Basically...more details.

Thanks! I figure I'll do a trans rebuild with the Evo8 3/4 gears and beef up the spider gears in the T/C. Bad news after bad news today.

Time to start makin' the monies!
