Oil return line leak?

ok so i have a big issue going on and i havent been able to drive my car because of this. so lets make it short i disconected the oil return line to the oil pan because i was fixing some stuff on my turbo next oil was leaking around it so i orderd a new gasket everything was fixed till i noticed oil coming out when i would boost around 12psi then noticed it would leak around 1 of the bolts, I thaught o easy fix pull out the bolt and put silicone to make a tight seal wrong my bolt wont tight? it gets in and out but doesent seem to tighten i noticed some coil on the screw so yes it did kinda strip some out the bolt was straight it just took some out. is there a way i can fix this without removing the oil pan or takingout the whole gasket again because its a good seal just leaking around the bolt.... thanks and i have tried just putting silicone around the bolt but i myself dont feel confident with a good job done and also still leaks anyone help.

If you are lucky, maybe only the first couple of threads are stripped and you can get away with using a slightly longer bolt which would grab the threads further down in the bolt hole. Otherwise you'll have to tap the internal threads in the bolthole with a thread cutting tap.

If you must tap, then you could try tapping it without removing the pan( if you are lazy like me) although you'd have to be pretty careful how you go about it. If only the first couple threads are gone then you wouldn't need to run the tap down in there very far.

Just turn the tap in a 1/2 turn and turn it back out. Use Q-tips and carb cleaner to remove the chips as you go along. after each 1/2 turn inward, back out the tap, remove it, spray some carb cleaner on the head of the Q-tip and carefully remove any metal chips.

Once you either get the longer bolt to seat or retap the bolthole, then you'll want to tighten the bolt very carefully with a high quality torque wrench, preferably with an inch-pound(in. lb.) torque rating, and/or use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet, not a 3/8" drive ratchet.

An in./lb. torque wrench measures torque in 1/12th pound increments. However, if you must use a combination wrench instead of a 1/4" drive rathchet, then use one of those miniature, stubby(short-handled) ones and apply force with only two fingers when tightening. But, whatever you do, look up the factory torque spec for that fastener before tightening it down.

Finally, a stripped bolthole that opens into the oil pan poses the risk of metal bits getting into your oil. So when you finish repairing the threads, then you'll want to do an oil and filter change just as a precautionary measure.

Good Luck!
