Twin scroll vs t3

Just curious which will provide better boost response and less lag.

I have been looking at sticking with stock style turbos - Red, greed, BBK.

Or going full t3 - and a 3076R or something similar.

Aiming for a mild/moderate evo.. 400-425 at Buschurs.

Mainly - the question came about since we know twin scroll is better then DSM flanged - but curious how it compares to t3.

I saw this thread - but its 4 years old. Before anyone really experimented with the twin scroll and the t3's to the extent that we have now.

Just curious if anyone has any dyno sheets of similar turbos with single and twin scroll setups.

For your goals, a stock frame turbo would be plenty and cost less, not to mention spool faster which would make for a much more fun street setup. For your HP goals on a Mustang dyno, assuming you're talking about pump gas, the new HTA Green or BBK full would probably be your best match. The Red would give you a little more headroom if you decide to crank it up on meth/race gas/E85 later - at the expense of spool. I personally run a BBK Lite and love it, probably around 400whp on pump, full boost around 3k.

How many PSI is "full boost" in this particular case? When you say, "around 3K", and "probably around 400 WHP", you leave me wondering how big the "around" part is.....Is there a fudge factor in your observations? Is it like a "ball park" figure, a "more or less" sort of thing?

See - I assumed that on a mustang dyno - a lite or a green would have a difficult time pushing the needle to 400+ on pump.

I was under the impression the BBK full would be pushing it to get that far as well.

It seemed that the RED would be the ideal choice. It was my intent thus far. Just curious how the masses viewed my goals and what alternatives they would have for me.

Full boost is 26psi, I can see that by 3k in 4th and maybe 3200-3300 in 3rd. I'm guesstimating WHP based on how the car feels compared to other cars I've owned/driven. I'm planning on throwing it on the dyno soon to see what it can do.

The Lite or Green might have a difficult time cracking 400whp on a Mustang, hence why I said a BBK Full or the new HTA Green. If you don't mind losing a few hundred RPMs of spool that you'll probably never notice, just go Red and be done with it.

For me, I've been down the road of DSMs and big turbos so many times it got old, so I built the EVO with quick-spooling "fun street car" in mind. Having said that, I was still on the fence between the BBK Lite and Red. The Red seems to see full boost in the low 4s on most cars, which isn't laggy at all compared to what I'm used to. The deciding factor ended up being price and availability.

CBRD got back to me and said that the BBK full would be unable to push it that far on pump.

Looks like the red for me. Unless I decide to go with a t3 setup.

But how much better is the t3? I just cant believe its worth spending all that extra money on.

the BBK has done 435-440 on our mustang dyno, which reads similar to daves... but if you want more, especially over 30+psi, go with a red.
