3 more questions:

1) Are there mufflers for 3 inch or 2.5 inch pipes? Basically, will a muffler currently attached to 2.5 pipe be compatible and not cause a 'bottleneck" when attached to a 3 inch pipe?

2) What is an axle back?

3) What is a muffler delete pipe?

I'll try this again...

1) This is basically the question asked earlier in the thread, about stock sized exhaust pieces matching up to 3" aftermarkets (are the flanges bigger??). Don't know this answer.

2) Axle back basically just replaces from around the rear axle out to the rear of the car, most of the time including a high-flow muffler. This section of the exhaust is probably the most restrictive because of the angles that the exhaust takes to exit the rear of the vehicle.

3) Muffler delete pipe is basically a Axle back without a muffler. I honestly doubt you'd see much HP difference between a good axle back with a good high-flow muffler and a "muffler delete" pipe. The difference will mainly be an absurdly loud sound from the "muffler delete" pipe.

Then you have the converter or some people use a "cat-delete" pipe (which is illegal unless used off-road) - this section of pipe is about 12-16". After that of course, is the "cat-back" section of the exhaust which includes the muffler and sometimes a resonator (to make things quieter).

All 3 sections (downpipe, cat, and cat-back) can be replaced at once, or individually.
I know removing the Cat is going to significantly increase the vehicle's emissions, but what effect will replacing the downpipe and the catback individually or together do? Also, do "high-flow" cats have a significant impact too?
