My car is a DD and just dont want to bend or break a valve I firgure its all going in why not do it all. Any way should I do it or not and what valves should I use?

If you decided to upgrade, most of the time it's +1mm over.

Ferrea makes some, supertech, etc.

Just stay with the stock ones. If you go to the +1 mm valves I am sure you will need head work to use those valves.

If you are using a dual spring make sure you get the smaller inner diameter valve stem seal as well. The dual srings can pull the stock valve seals off.

You have a part number or where can I buy them?

I think AMS sells some.

I honestly can't remember where I bought mine from as it was about a year ago when I did.

Yea I'd stay with the stock ones. If you are doing ported head, bigger cams, springs/retainers, then naturally larger valves would be the next step in getting a little more flow out of it. The head will need to be machined/ported/matched to the larger valves, so usually people only do that when the head is already undergoing machine work anyways. Unless you want to go all out, stock ones will work.

Valves are not a drop-in item.

FYI

FP has the smaller stem seals and I speak from experience that the dual VS pull the seals off at higher RPMs.

I think you answered your question in your question..you want the reliability and assurance a aftermarket valve will provide you! As Ted mentioned, a valve is certainly not a drop in deal, but if your considering it...it is a good time to pick up some performance and reliability. The stock valve can break when or if the piston decides to kiss it, and the result of this relationship can be catastrophic! If you put a quality valve in there you can be assured that if something does happen you bought the insurance, and nothing will break, just bend.

And, you don't need a oversize valve to pick up performance. In actuality, you would see nothing from a oversize valve if the head is not ported. The valve doesn't make the power in this instance, the valve job and blending into the bowl area of the port does. Bigger is not always better, it only gives you bragging rights.

I can not go into what valve is better or worse for you, but I can say we have a cylinder head rebuild package that picks the head up 20-30 cfm with one of our street/race valve jobs (differences in cylinder head castings vary gain) and we achieve that with a Ferrea 6000 series stock size valve.

So if I am correct (after reading the posts) there is no gain to be had with aftermarket stock size valves over stock valves? Or no gain to be had that is worth getting the aftermarket valves?

Its alot of trouble for hardly any gains. If you had the head off and wanted to do a valve job anyway, because of mileage and worn seats on something then I would say yes order a nice set of aftermarket valaves and have a quality multi angle job done on them. But since your head is not off and your car is showing no signs of burnt valves or worn seats then id throw the springs in and call it a day. Otherwise look at the price, i mean just in new headstuds and a gasket its 165 bux just to take the head off.
