I definitely like the Amsoil open-top design with the internal velocity stack (the one I tested in the Air Filter Shootout).

the filter that was tested in the Shoot out is the exact same filter that is being ran on the op's beast.

this car that in this thread will be tunned this weekend this car will be a 600WHP+ evo on race gas, with a FP red, looking for 490-510 on pump 93

the op reported noticerable improvement with the AMSOIL cone open top filter.

ok, this thread is a few weeks old, but i'm going to ask anyway... when it comes to standard panel filters... does anyone know what sort of gains there are to be had? I'm not pushing any big numbers... maybe 280-300 whp (guessing) but I did just buy some AMSoil SSO and believe in getting the best of everything when it comes to maintenance for my car.

hmmm... actually I don't see an AMSoil air filter... only the Wix... they make the racing ones, but I don't know how that would be for street use?

I am running the 4090 now that I've switched over to speed density; I'll post an updated engine pic later on I love the way that it sounds under boost now, total jet engine sound w/ the velocity stack

Okay, just tried installing it and I am pretty sure I need some sort of adapter, as the MAF is a rectangle and the cone filter is a circle...

(Taken from another thread, but you get the "picture")

You need the adapter, seen in this link.

My question is about fitment. Someone mentioned modifying the intake tube. Does something need to be done to get the 4560 to fit?

Only on ACD equipped cars i believe, the reservoir makes it a tight fit with the stock intake tube.

I have an '05 so I have ACD. What do you need to do to make it fit then? My K&N needs to go anyhow, it's filthy.

Mine rubbed some of the mesh off a little.
I bent the ACD bracket forward a little and pushed the intake pipe back towards the firewall a bit and there is just enuff space so it doesnt rub now. Little too late, but nothing detremental.
