--- FP Green 73HTA ---

Fellahs, Happy 4th of July from Iraq. Weather here is terrible as we are once again stuck in a sand storm. You have to walk around with something over your mouth as the dust/sand is crazy. The good thing (if there ever were such a thing) is that the dust/sand keeps temperatures pretty moderate instead of the usual 100+ degrees.

On to business...

I have had some time to do some reading in hopes of finding the right "weapon of choice" with this deployment money being saved up. Well, I came across the "Green 73HTA" and at first glance, I was like, "What in the world is this?" The Green 73HTA made on the Cobb Mustang dyno 452whp and 415wtq on pump 93 set at 24PSI. This is, of course, with their 2.3L engine and FP4R cams.

THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM THE FORCED PERFORMANCE WEBSITE: The HTA update to our FP GREEN for the Evolution IX has been over a year in the making. A year well spent considering multiple wheel sizes and combinations, not to mention countless hours spent datalogging and dyno testing these combinations. We reviewed tons of logs from no less than 20 pressure sensors and temperature sensors within the turbocharger system as well as turbine speed and mass flow to verify that this new incarnation of the FP GREEN 73HTA would exceed the performance of every, any and all other available turbo upgrades for the EVO 4-9 in the up to 55lb/min category. This unit features the 54lb/min 73mm HTA compressor wheel and a new 65mm revision of the high efficiency 67mm turbine wheel used in the FP Red for the perfect combination of power and rapid spool. This standard of performance is now improved into the "perfect pump gas turbo" with an increased power capability, greater efficiency, less turbine back pressure, more options for wastegate opening pressure, and all of this with FP to back up the unit for the length of the warranty.

Bottom line, Forced Performance is making quite a statement and I'm interested to see what you fellahs are seeing out there. I'm not trying to start another debate as it relates to other turbos on the market as opposed to simply getting a feel for what you all believe/think aside from what the manufacturer has stated.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

i think it is a little early to jump to conclusions on this turbo. from what ive seen around the forum a lot of people seem to think it has potential. im still waiting to see some more graphs before i can come to a good judgement.

Get it now before they put you on a 6-8 week wait list after it has proven to be the ****.

I've got $800 and a stock IX turbo here for anybody that has a 80mm inlet RED looking to "upgrade."

vs. the BBK Full 2 days....The reason I mention that is the two turbos seem to be competitively positioned...

+1, The first Green was a disappointment despite all the hype. Lets see some results before we jump to conclusions.

I understand the concerns, fellahs. Not to topic hop, but the BBK Full has proven to put down some nice numbers. In the days ahead, I hope to see some test on some average 2.0L EVOs in order to gain a more realistic perspective.

A 73HTA on your 2.3RR? You'd have so much down low torque and spool so fast you wouldn't even think it's forced induction! lol

We didn't push the pump gas tune on mine to the limit, with the BR Race intercooler and the bigger exhaust wheel on the 73, I'm sure there's more left in it on pump, my tuner did not push the boost or timing on pump to see when it would knock, just parked it at 24-25psi.. also didn't have the coil on plug on it yet when it made 431/369 dynojet on 93.

When I went to the track it was on E-75 from the sunrise station, so it wasn't up to the number is my sig because we had to pull some timing on my map but even with that and no undertray, angry Fidanza 3.2 clutch.... I still trapped 129... there's a 130mph pass in it on E-85.

I'm not sure what I can get on Pump for a trap, but with a full weight car (including race ic and crash beams) to go 129 first time out I was happy with my choice, my stock connecting rods weren't. lol

What's the fastest trap anyone's got on the BBK with a full weight car?

So, you made 431whp/369 on the 25PSI tune, right? That is roughly 366whp/308wtq on a Mustang dyno, give or take a few here and there, right? A rough estimate works for me without getting into all of the details of this dyno versus that dyno discussion.
